ClaimScope for Veterans

VA C-file review

Your C-file holds every decision VA made. We check all of it.

Get your claims file from VA, upload it, and ClaimScope reads every decision, exam and code sheet for issues VA missed. Each finding comes with page citations and the review route and deadline that fit. $249, one time.

How to get your C-file

  1. 1Open VA's personal-records request (VA Form 20-10206) on VA.gov.
  2. 2Choose the claims file (C-file), and add claim exams if you want them listed separately.
  3. 3Ask for the complete electronic claims record, not only your VA medical records.
  4. 4When VA sends it, keep the original ZIP or every PDF exactly as delivered.

Don't wait for the C-file if a deadline may be running.

You generally have one year from a VA decision to ask for a Higher-Level Review, file a Supplemental Claim or appeal to the Board and keep your effective date. Start a Decision Review with just the letter now, then move up to the full C-File Review within 30 days for $150.

What the C-File Review checks

The whole claims history, not one letter.

Every decision, not just the last one

Rating decisions, code sheets, notice letters and earlier review decisions, put on one timeline with their dates and deadlines.

Missed and inferred issues

TDIU, SMC, secondary conditions, PACT Act presumptives, MST and hearing-test screens across the whole record.

Effective dates and old errors

Whether an earlier claim or intent to file was overlooked, and whether a final decision may contain clear and unmistakable error (CUE).

Ratings and pay math

Each rating checked against the evidence, combined-rating math and payment history, with monthly-pay and back-pay estimates where the record supports one.

What the file is missing

Exams, records or opinions VA relied on that aren't in your copy, and a letter asking your doctor for an opinion where one is needed.

C-file questions

What is a VA C-file?

Your claims file: everything VA keeps for your compensation claims. That includes decisions, code sheets, exam reports, service treatment and personnel records, letters and the evidence you sent. A benefits letter or My HealtheVet download is not the C-file.

How do I get my C-file?

Request it from VA with VA Form 20-10206 on VA.gov, or ask your accredited representative whether they can give you a copy. Our step-by-step guide has the official links.

Should I wait for the C-file if a deadline is running?

No. Protect the deadline first. A Decision Review can start now with just your decision letter, and you can move up to the full C-File Review later.

What can I upload?

ZIP files or PDFs, up to 10,000 pages, which covers most C-files. We list every file we received and flag anything unreadable, locked, duplicated or missing.

I already bought a Decision Review. Can I upgrade?

Yes. Within 30 days of your Decision Review results, you can move up to the Complete C-File Review for $150. The $99 you paid counts toward it.

What if the review finds nothing?

If your C-File Review finds nothing worth pursuing, ask within 30 days of your results and we'll refund it in full.

Is this legal advice or representation?

No. The C-File Review is an educational analysis of your records. It doesn't include attorney review or representation, and it can't guarantee any VA decision.
